Day 1
Hit the Museums then Grab a Sweet Treat!
Within City Limits
Start your spring getaway at one of the city’s museums. Exploration Place has educational hands-on programs that are fun for all ages! They also have exhibits on the earliest pioneer days, post contact settlers, Indigenous groups, and the local flora and fauna. Or go visit the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum which has the largest collection of rail artifacts in Western Canada! Immerse yourself in the industrial history of Prince George with a ride on the mini-rail, following the tracks around the expansive 8 acres of locomotives, rail cars, forestry equipment, and beehive burners.
After exploring one or both museums, treat yourself to Daydream Donuts, a local donut shop. Treat your taste buds to handmade artisanal donuts in a dozen or more flavours a day! Don’t feel like a donut? They also have old fashioned baked goods, scones and deliciously decadent Eclairs.
Day 2
Go on an Adventure and Get Your Craft On!

Get busy and drop the family back into the 1800’s at Huble Homestead’s hands on historic site! With self-led activities available at the General Store, families can test their skills at scavenger hunts or unique games every weekend. With open skies, rolling fields, and quaint buildings on the homestead there is ample room to take part in a game of horseshoes or croquet. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for some photo opportunities with the chickens, bunnies, and sheep which reside at the homestead between May and September. Be sure to check out their events calendar for some family friendly events throughout the year! Get busy and step back into the 1800s at the Huble Homestead Historic Site, where hands-on history makes it easy for families to jump right in. With self-guided activities at the General Store, kids can try scavenger hunts and old-fashioned games on weekends, while wide-open fields and heritage buildings set the scene for a round of horseshoes or croquet. Keep an eye out for the resident chickens, bunnies, and sheep—always a hit from May through September—and check the events calendar for even more family-friendly fun throughout the year.
After a day of exploring, keep things easy with a relaxed bite at Betulla Burning or a laid-back visit to Northern Lights Estate Winery—both offer kids menus, so everyone at the table is covered.
Day 3
Explore a Local Trail and Taste Local Grub!
Within city limits lies a hidden gem, Cottonwood Island Nature Park. Local artist Elmer Gunderson has sculpted tree bark carvings on some of the cottonwood trees within the park. Kids will love to try to spot them all as you make your way through the park, also keep your eyes peeled for locally painted rocks to pick up and hide elsewhere in the park!
After burning off some energy, a stroll through downtown Prince George is a great way to shop and settle in for a bite. Along 4th Avenue, you’ll find local boutiques filled with clothing, toys, and unique household finds—perfect for a little treasure hunting together. When it’s time to eat, you’ll find welcoming local spots, including family favourites like Ivy’s Family Kitchen and Aubree’s Breakfast Place—both known for hearty meals that work for all ages.
