5-Year Strategic Plan
Based on the input we’ve heard from industry and partners throughout the planning process, Tourism Prince George has developed a draft five-year strategy for tourism in Prince George. We’re now pleased to share the strategy back with you and confirm the direction it sets for the next five years.
The draft Tourism Prince George Strategic Plan 2027-2031 sets out our proposed direction and priorities and provides a framework for how Tourism Prince George will focus its efforts and investments to support Prince George’s visitor economy.
Before the strategy is finalized, we’re coming back to industry to share what we’ve developed, hear your feedback and confirm that we’re headed in the right direction.
This work also supports Tourism Prince George’s upcoming Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) renewal for the next five-year term.

MRDT is collected by communities across British Columbia to support organizations like Tourism Prince George in their destinations.
Why Is Tourism Prince George Renewing MRDT?
MRDT is approved for five-year terms. Tourism Prince George is preparing for the renewal of Prince George’s 3% MRDT for the next five-year period.
The provincial renewal process requires the development of a five-year strategic business plan and annual tactical plan, engagement with the tourism industry and accommodation sector, accommodation-provider support, and approval through the applicable local government process.
Our new five-year strategy is therefore an important part of both planning for the future of tourism in Prince George and preparing for the next MRDT term.
What Does This Mean for Accommodation Providers?
Accommodation providers have an important role in the MRDT renewal process. The current engagement provides an opportunity for accommodation providers to learn about Tourism Prince George’s proposed five-year direction, understand how MRDT funding will support that work, provide feedback and ask questions.
Following the engagement and finalization of the strategy, Tourism Prince George will communicate directly with eligible accommodation providers regarding the formal MRDT support process, including the requirements, documentation and timelines.
