Tourism PG Launches SportPG Speaker Series 2.0 to Support and Grow Sport Hosting
Prince George, BC – On the heels of two big sport event announcements, the 2019 World ParaNordic Championships and the 2022 BC Summer Games, Tourism Prince George is pleased to announce the return of the SportPG Speaker Series in 2017. 2016 was the launch of the series, which brought the sport community together for networking and learning opportunities on a variety of event-related topics. It was hosted on four Tuesday evenings throughout 2016, and 101 people attended representing 40 different sport organizations.
This year, Tourism PG is taking a more collaborative approach to the series, giving attendees the opportunity to share their experiences and expertise with each other. “What we found is that there are a lot of experts in the room already,” says Leanne Schinkel, Manager of Sport & Event Development for Tourism PG. “So instead of having one of their peers stand up and tell them what they should do, we want to create more of a roundtable approach so people can learn from each other.”
The sport speaker series will continue to be offered for free in the Kin 1 Lounge on Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm with a few light snacks. This year’s topics follow a chronological event structure (click on the links for more info and to register):
