This Travelling exhibition focuses on the experiences of Canadian women during the First and Second World Wars. Through five themes, World War Women shares the personal stories of women whose lives were transformed by conflict.
World War Women uses a combination of artifacts, photographs, documents reproductions, and audiovisual material to explore the wartime stories of Canadian women from all walks of life: Working, Volunteering, Military Service, Domestic Pressure, Worry and Loss. For many of them, the wars resulted in new employment opportunities in factories, as women replaced men serving in the military.

Learn about life for Japanese Canadians in Canada before war, the administration of their lives during and after war ends, and how legacies of dispossession continue to this day.
Grounded in research from Landscapes of Injustice – a 7 year multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, community engaged project, this exhibit explores the dispossession of Japanese Canadians in the 1940s. It illuminates the loss of home and the struggle for justice of one racially marginalized community. The story unfolds by following seven narrators.

tep back in time to 1970s Prince George, where hippie culture will collide with murder and intrigue to create an unforgettable afternoon! Tickets will be $45.00 per person and will include appetizers and refreshments.
If you’re fond of murder mysteries, this is your time to shine! Book your spot and travel back to the 1972 to take on a character from the past. Costumes are strongly recommended.
Event recipients will receive an official invitation, character assignment, and costume ideas once registration for the event has closed. On the event day, players will arrive in period costume, receive their objectives for the game, and mingle as they work to catch the criminal (or hide their crimes)!
Prizes are awarded for best costume, best performance, and the most money. If you correctly identify the killer you won’t leave empty handed – the same rule applies if the murderer gets away with it! No acting experience required, just a willingness to embrace your role!
PLEASE NOTE: The success of this event is dependent on the attendance of all participants – if you or your guests are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible. There will be no refunds, but tickets are transferable.

Shadow Puppetry is an ancient art form which is practised in various Asian and South East Asian countries such as China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand etc. Shadow puppetry is an awesome platform for us to express ourselves via storytelling. It is also a great tool for language learning.
Join BC Culture Days 2023 Ambassador Cherie Chai from Speak Write Academy to discover the wonders of the ancient art form Shadow Puppetry. You will learn how to make your own shadow puppets using simple, eco-friendly and vegan materials, learn how to storyboard to create your stories and make your puppet characters come alive with musical accompaniment behind a shadow puppet screen. You will also be given the opportunity to learn different languages such as Dakelh, French, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Hindi and Farsi, and to use the different languages in your storyboarding and shadow puppet performances. Feel free to record a video of your shadow puppet performance and bring home your shadow puppet as souvenirs!
ASL interpretation will be provided for the workshop and puppet performances.
This free event is suitable for all ages and will be held at the Prince George Public Library. We hope to see you there! 🙂
This event was made possible with local support from the Prince George Public Library and multiple volunteer Language Teachers from Multicultural Heritage Society of Prince George, The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS) of Prince George and the Prince George community.

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, join us in honoring loved ones lost to suicide and supporting survivors of suicide loss.
We choose to remember people for who they were in life first, and how they died second. Suicide is everyone’s loss and as a community we want to show that we care about lives lost to suicide. If you have a loved one lost to suicide and would like to have them memorialized at our event, please register. Registrations will be taken year-round. We will have a placard and candle at the event for every person registered.
