Lineage

Haley Bassett is a Metis and Austrian-Russian visual artist, whose work is informed by social practice. She is based in Subset Prairie, BC and originally from Dawson Creek, BC. Her work explores how time, place, family histories, and personal traumas converge as formational aspects to the self.

Lineage is an installation that reflects on Bassett’s own family history and how it has come to influence her work. The exhibition will include work created by Bassett over the years, from childhood to adulthood, along with family mementos and keepsakes. Lineage will chart the development of an artist, highlighting her creative process and the transformation of ideas from the first seeds of creativity.
