The Caledonia Ramblers are hosting a snowshoe up the Tumuch trail on Sunday, January 28.
The trip is rated moderate to strenuous with significant elevation gain and promises to be a full but rewarding day. The distance covered will depend on the weather, snow conditions and snowshoers' wishes.
It will begin at the new trailhead, about 115 kilometres southeast of the city. Although the Tumuch trail ultimately leads to the Grizzly Den cabin, it's doubtful participants will be able to reach that destination.
Participants should bring a day backpack, sufficient water or perhaps something hot to drink, lunch and snacks, extra warm clothing, gaiters and hiking poles.
Meet at the city hall parking lot 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 7 a.m. The carpool fee is $12.
