A Youth-Centred Evening of Performances, with Kym Gouchie & Francis Arevalo

Join us for a youth-centred evening of performances with Kym Gouchie and Francis Arevalo on healthy environments and communities. The event will be held at the Omineca Arts Centre with free admission!

Singer/Songwriter Kym Gouchie is from the Lheidli T'enneh Nation also knows as Prince George, BC. Canada. A self taught guitar player and a traditional hand drummer, she utilizes her eclectic background to inspire her as she combines elements of traditional, folk and country to create a unique voice.

Francis Arevalo is a Filipino MC, artist and producer born and raised in Vancouver BC, on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples specifically the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. He is fulfilled by community building, and cultivating creativity. He released his "Home, Grown Pt. 1" EP in August 2018, with the follow-up coming spring 2019 (available at: fam.link/hg). He is also a passionate mental health advocate whose journey battling bi-polar disorder through music was the subject of a 2017 Vancouver Asian Film Fest award-winning documentary "The Lion"; this led him to be named one of the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health Top 150 Canadian mental health advocates of 2018.
