Stay Calm at Christmas Time-Vocal Meditation workshop
Saturday December 1, 2018  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
3 Sisters Rock'N Gem, 1276 4th Ave,

Christmas is a precious time with family and friends. It can also be extra busy and stressful attending to other people’s needs and the increase in social gatherings.

What if you had a few key tools that can help you stay centered and calm?

Simple practices that you can do while washing the dishes or showering which fulfill your need for ‘personal time’ and help you to be fully present and loving with the people you care about?

Vocal Meditation is a mindfulness practice that comes from the yogic tradition. Humming, toning and chanting are the most basic forms of vocal meditation and when you include a clear outcome in your sounding you can shift your state of being in minutes.
How does it work?
Fear, anxiety and tension cause the cells and muscles in your body to contract. When you exhale making a low steady sound the healing frequencies in your voice help these contracted cells to vibrate gently and release the stuck energy. Using just your natural voice and a few techniques you will be to transform anxiety into peace, fear into trust, painful tension into ease and bring a genuine smile back to your face. ☺

Vocal Meditation techniques are effective anytime you use them: spontaneously when you think of them, as a daily meditation practice or just when you need a quick intervention before an important family occasion or business meeting.

******

In this 2 hr. workshop you will learn three different vocal meditation practices:
1. The Humming Meditation
2. Purification Mantra for your Chakras
3. Chant for Self-Compassion

No vocal or singing experience required.

Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/free-solo-film-screening-tickets-51597184568

About the film:

From award-winning documentary filmmaker E. Chai Vasarhelyi (“MERU”) and world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin comes National Geographic Documentary Film’s FREE SOLO, a stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of the free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: climbing the face of the world’s most famous rock ... the 3,000ft El Capitan in Yosemite National Park ... without a rope.

Celebrated as one of the greatest athletic feats of any kind, Honnold’s climb set the ultimate standard: perfection or death. Succeeding in this challenge, Honnold enters his story in the annals of human achievement. FREE SOLO is both an edge-of-your seat thriller and an inspiring portrait of an athlete who exceeded our current understanding of human physical and mental potential. The result is a triumph of the human spirit.
