Ghostly Hounds and Old Time Honey
Thursday August 2, 2018  |  8:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Nancy O's Restaurant , 1261 3rd Avenue

Montreal-based folk acts Ghostly Hounds and Old Time Honey are taking their songs on the road this summer.

Ghostly Hounds combines strings, horns and powerful vocals to create a dark, jazzy sound. Currently based out of Montréal and often on the road, the band's members hail from British Columbia, Ontario, Québec, and Massachusetts. Ghostly Hounds self-produced their debut demos in November 2015, only a month after beginning to play together. They have toured Canada coast to coast, playing well over 100 shows from PEI to Vancouver Island. On June 5th, 2017 Ghostly Hounds released their debut full length album "Creature".

Old Time Honey - From the vibrant streets of Montreal to the big top circus, Old Time Honey seamlessly blend the sounds of old time, tin pan alley, and cabaret to create a very festive atmosphere with a theatrical touch. Played on hand made a washboard, banjo, piano, fiddle, upright bass, and tied together with hauntingly memorable vocal harmonies, these performers are as much fun to watch as to listen to!

$7 at the door.

The Party On High Street and Bobby Dove
Thursday August 2, 2018  |  9:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Legion 43, 1116 6th Avenue

The Party On High Street
Since finding each other in Nelson, B.C. 10 years ago The Party On High Street has worked tirelessly to bring it's signature feel-good funk jams to the people! We are a lively dance-inducing mix of funk, folk and jazz fuelled rockn' roll, joyfully delivered and presented like a funbomb waiting to make you jive. Our band sings of peculiar youthful enchantments, weird love, and some of the odder aspects of life. Touring and playing live shows has fed our spirits and stroked our souls since the beginning. Every summer we travel further into the Canadian festival scene. Playing the campfires and stages, bars and backyards. This past summer we performed at over 6 music festivals and we are gearing up to do it again this year. At these festivals we've developed a family of friends and fellow musicians, who we've joined on stage and off for plenty of collaborations and all around good time merry music makin'! We're taking our new songs and these experiences and recording a full blown electrified funk-rock album, due out Summer 2018!

Bobby Dove
Born in Montreal, Canada, singer/songwriter Bobby Dove planted her musical roots singing and picking at the Wheel Club’s weekly hillbilly nights, where she found a mentor in the resident lap steel player Bobby Hill: songwriter, educator, and pioneer of Canadian country radio in the 1950’s.

In 2013 Bobby released the seven song EP, Dovetales, heralded by CBC’s Brendan Kelly as “a stunner, repping the debut of an important new voice on our roots scene.” She has since shared stages with artists such as Justin Townes Earle, JD McPhereson, Richard Thompson, and Mary Gauthier.

Produced by James McKenty (Blue Rodeo, Gordon Lightfoot), Bobby’s debut full-length album Thunderchild was recorded with a strong cast of Canadian musicians including Anna Ruddick, Sam Weber, Bob Cohen, Laura Bates and Burke Carroll. Since the 2016 record launch, Bobby has been touring Canada, winning the hearts of roots music lovers with her poetic songwriting, powerful voice and magnetic stage presence.

“Bobby Dove is a gifted artist, and a brilliant new light on the songwriting scene. Her songs speak to my heart. Her work is a link in the chain that binds the future to the past. A time traveler, Bobby’s songs meld genres with the touch of a master. I am a fan.” Mary Gauthier

“A strong debut from a talented newcomer.” Barry Hammond, Penguin Eggs Magazine

“She invokes a young female Hank Williams with an old soul and a much better future. Thunderchild, her debut CD, is a gem!” Richard Flohil

Compost 101
Wednesday August 8, 2018  |  2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
REAPS (Recycling & Environmental Action Planning Society), 1950 Gorse Street

Composting is the ultimate in recycling. In what other endeavor can we take things meant for the garbage -- those banana peels, apple cores, fall leaves, weeds, and animal bedding -- and turn it into something that will literally transform our garden. Pretty amazing stuff! While there are some rules to follow when learning how to compost, rest assured that they're pretty basic, and that, in the end, no matter how many "mistakes" you make, compost just happens.

Wax Mannequin with special guest Sarah Beatty
Wednesday August 8, 2018  |  8:30 PM - 11:30 PM
Nancy O's, 1261 3rd Avenue

$10 cover at the door

Wax Mannequin is the stage moniker of Christopher Adeney. A lyricist first and foremost, songsmith second and self-effacing showman third, Adeney has honed his weird, punk-folk anthems over years of travel and tribulation. His songs are dark and thoughtful at times, pounding and ridiculous at others...or all of these things at once. A careful craftsman, but far from precious, he is a bar-room philosopher in the most vile, endearing and unforgettable sense of the term. He prepares to release his 7th full length and will continue indefinitely to carve a deep, indelible groove across the face the modern music underground.

Ali McCormick with Britt A.M.
Thursday August 9, 2018  |  8:30 PM - 11:00 PM
Nancy O's, 1261 3rd Avenue

$10 cover at the door

“Ali McCormick is equipped with an endless supply of energy and charm. She delivers carefully crafted lyrics with an unforgettable voice...her music is fun-loving and full of quality storytelling. By the end of the show, you’ll know her quite well, and chances are, you’ll be a big fan. ” - Paulina Hebrak, The Kemptville Advance

Though the body has ventured across the land, the soul has never strayed far from her childhood homestead. Ali McCormick offers up her most personal offering to date with That Place You Know, her third album. A true wilderness wordsmith, Ali populates her music with colourful characters you enjoy spending time with. Rooted in folk, songs like “Tackle Box, Saw, Chain and a Knife” and “The Woodstove” show the road at the end of a long tour now leads to her own cozy clearing on an island sheep farm. That Place You Know, like 2014’s self-titled recording and 2016’s Clean Water, is full of tasty, road-tested songs. Brimming with youthful hijinks and wild days at the midway, there are also cherished moments spent at home in the warm caress of love. One would expect no less from The Lioness of Lanark County.

Britt A.M. is a looping guitarist from Prince George, BC. A one-woman band to be reckoned with, Britt delivers a gripping set, twisting and manipulating the signal of her guitar with loop and effect pedals, to create rhythmic, riff-based songs with barbed hooks and experiential messages.
