Our annual event is happening July 5 & 6, 2019 in the Canada Games Plaza.
Once again, we are proud to have BMO as the title sponsor of KidzArt Dayz. This year, we can't wait to have new performers! We will have plenty of music, activities, and crafts for the whole family. Learn more Here

Downtown Summerfest 2019

Downtown Prince George's signature festival celebrating fun, food, entertainment and activities! There will be lots of local food, live entertainment and activities for the kids at this year’s Downtown Summerfest. This years event will be held on Sunday July 14 from 11:00am - 5:00pm in Canada Games Plaza.

BC Northern Exhibition

The BCNE is the highlight of the summer and our region’s largest and longest running family event. Mark the August 15-18, 2019 BCNE on your calendar and join us for everything from barrel racing to heavy horse pulls, entertainment & shows on our BCNE stage, events including a community pancake breakfast & the Saturday night Stetson Stomp dance, competitions between fire fighters, superdogs and a whole lot of fun for all ages and the entire family! Heatwave 2019 Logo

June 21 - 23 Heatwave Celebrate Cultures

This FREE 3-day outdoor cultural festival is a “heatwave” of music and culture which will include live music, interactive cultural performances and displays, vendors, games and activities for all ages. Indulge in delicious flavours from around the world as you enjoy free outdoor performances and concerts showcasing the best of Canadian music in a variety of genres.

National Indigenous Peoples Day

Friday, June 21st
Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm
Venue: Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park
Time: 7:00pm – 10:30pm
Venue: Canada Games Plaza
Activities include: Traditional dancing, performances, music, bannock and other food options, vendors and more.

Evening entertainment
Time: 7:00pm - 10:30pm
Venue: Canada Games Plaza

Performer Line Up:
Saltwater Hank
Born in Prince Rupert, BC and a member of the Gitga’at community, Saltwater Hank is a well-known
Tsimshian folk artist, who will be open the evening.

Riviere Rouge
A high-energy traditional folk band that use the button accordion, the fiddle and the guitar in the Métis
and Québécois style take the stage next.

Tonye Aganaba Band
Of Nigerian and Zimbabwean descent, will finish the evening by lending their dynamic and sultry voice
to all ranges of styles and genres. Tonye’s style, like her gender, is fluid (or at the very least non-binary) -
but can be described as Soul/Neo-Folk/R&B, the kind of singer/performer that turns heads wherever they go.

A Day of

Saturday, June 22nd
Time: 4:00pm – 10:30pm
Venue: Canada Games Plaza
Activities will feature local and cultural performers, vendors, cultural demonstrations, games and food.
Also, you are invited to participate in the traditional dress fashion show during the afternoon!

Performer Line Up:
Laura Grizzlypaws
Born and raised in Lillooet, B.C., Laura will performer a song, dance and creation story about the Grizzly Bear. The performance showcases how Grizz now marks his ancestral footprints to provide hope, and sustainability through cultural education to empower, promote and to increase awareness of cultural identity, community and family values.

An eclectic band that fuses Persian music with a variety of Western genres ranging between folkloric traditions and Iranian pop music.

En Karma
Vancouver-based Bhangra band En Karma, has created a unique sound that is steeped in tradition yet at the same time all their own, guaranteed to get any audience dancing!

George Leach
The energy level of a George Leach show is astounding! Onstage, George and his band disappear into the moment, chasing the promise of fleeting transcendence that music offers and taking us all with him.

Baptiste Day

Sunday, June 23rd
Time: 4:00pm – 9:30pm
Venue: Canada Games Plaza
Activities will include French themed demonstrations such as maple pops and maple cotton candy!
There will also be other culturally diverse booths, activities, and performances.

Performer Line Up:
Madame Diva and Micah the Voyageur
A children’s performers who offer a generous repertoire of captivating and educational songs, including themes of the seasons, and friendship inspired by everyday life – sure to please the young and the young at heart.

Kym Gouchie
Local Lheidli T’enneh Nation performer, Kym Gouchie, a self-taught guitar player and a traditional hand drummer, utilizing her eclectic background to inspire her as she combines elements of traditional, folk and country to create a unique voice.

Originally from Maliotenam in northeastern Quebec, the singer-songwriter, Shauit, sings in Creole, French, English, but especially in his native language (Innu). This one-of-a-kind artist offers honest and committed songs with a fantastically upbeat reggae/pop/dancehall flavour.

Alex Cuba
A perennial favourite, Juno Award-winning Cuban-Canadian Alex Cuba will wrap up the
Heatwave series with his electrifying show, full of highly danceable energy!
