We all could use a little more family time, and with Family Day long weekend right around the corner - now is the perfect time to get together with your favourite people. Here’s a handful of fun and interactive events to keep you busy this long weekend:



Enjoy A Kinderconcert | Saturday, Feb. 15
Enjoy a purely interactive and children-focused concert by the Prince George Symphony Orchestra. Focusing on fun, games and movement, kids will be exposed to a variety of musical sounds and instruments in this one-hour performance. Perfect for ages 3 -10.

Isitwendam (An Understanding) | Friday – Sunday
Isitwendam comes to Prince George fresh off its world premiere in Toronto. An amazing one-person performance, Meegwun Fairbrother takes on nine different roles, with an amazing digital and video design that will leave you in awe! The story follows Brendan White, a half Ojibway, half-white, young man who is hired by Aboriginal Affairs to discredit a Residential School survivor’s claim. Follow Brendan’s journey as his life is turned upside down in this uplifting, powerful and often humorous play.

Skate The Day Away | Friday – Monday
Lace-up those skates and bring the whole family to a local rink. Public skating is scheduled for Friday night, Saturday and Monday at either the Rolling Mix Arena and Elkscentre Arena. Or drop by the Prince George Outdoor Ice Oval for a sunny outdoor skate, weather dependant.





2020 Caledonia Wine Tour | Saturday, Feb. 15
This is an event for the “big kids” - rent or bring your own skies to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and hit the trails while you stop at a variety of sample stations pouring local BC wines. Tickets include 5 wine tastings, a hot meal and your trail pass.

Prince George Skijoring 2020 | Sunday, Feb. 16
Dress warmly, and stop by the rodeo grounds behind the CN Centre to see Skijoring in action! Watch as skiers compete in competitive timed races that include snow jumps and a variety of relays – all while being powered by galloping horses and riders! A crazy afternoon of winter sport and spirit.

Go For A Dip | Sunday, Feb. 16

Visit the Four Seasons Leisure Pool with the whole family for a free public swim between 4-6 pm. Enjoy the family swimming pool, diving boards, waterslide and lap lanes.


 

Visit Ness Lake | Monday, Feb. 17
Head to Ness Lake for a free lunch, treats, a hot beverage bar, and a full day of fun activities. Hit up the climbing wall, zip line, snow hill and more with your kids or just stand by and watch while the kids tire themselves out.

Choo-choo! | Monday, Feb. 17
If you missed the “Celebration of Lights” back in December, now is your chance! The Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum will flick the switch one last time on their 10,000+ light display. Take a free ride on the Cottonwood Minirail Express, enjoy the various craft stations and walk through the historic displays with a hot drink in hand between 4-8pm

Fear Factor Challenge | Monday, Feb. 17
Kids 5-12 are encouraged to participate in a variety of Fear Factor themed games and activities! Teams will be split into two, and compete together for the winning title. Registration is required.


Try It At Engage Sport North | Monday, Feb. 17
This is your opportunity to get active and try out a new indoor sport free of charge while being entered to win some amazing prizes. A variety of sports stations will be set up and folks can try out soccer, wheelchair basketball, pickleball and more.

Get Your Rollerblades Ready! | Monday, Feb. 17
Come join the Prince George Dome, from 2 - 4 pm for public roller-skating! Cost is $5 a person, rentals included. A great way to get out of the house with your family, enjoy a fun energetic environment with music, concession, air hockey, foose ball and skating!

Exploration Place | Monday, Feb. 17
Visit the Exploration Place for an educational day where families can learn the science, history and art behind crystal singing bowls and the mathematical equations such as “the golden ratio”. Participants will have opportunities to recreate sounds and co-create music together. Admission to the galleries is also  ½ price all day.

Hit The Hill| Monday, Feb. 17
Get some runs in at the Hart Ski Hill. With 50% off lift passes and 50% off rentals, families can have an affordable day enjoying the slopes. Over lunch, Wendys will be on site with hamburgers, chilli, and frosty’s available all by donation.
