The HelloPG Community Ambassador Fair is a chance for hospitality staff, event volunteers, and enthusiastic locals to refresh their community knowledge for the up-coming travel season. This is a local knowledge educational event, but will have an informal trade-show format with live music and opportunity for conversations with exhibitors. The fair is made possible by the Destination British Columbia Visitor Services Innovation Fund.
Participating vendors include: Parks Canada (pick up your free Discover Pass, find out what's new at Fort St James and Jasper for 2017, and learn how to manage visitor expectations for when they come to visit various Parks Canada places).
This is especially for those who have never been to our Visitor Information Centre! Join us for a BBQ with locals, dignitaries and visitors in celebration of National Tourism Week. Check out our equipment loans, see what we have to offer visitors (even find something new for yourself) and climb on board for a tour of Goodsir Nature Park. Tour seats are limited, so register ASAP. The bus to Goodsir Nature Park leaves the Visitor Centre at 12:00pm and will return at 3:00pm.
In 2015, Destination British Columbia accepted applications for the new Visitor Services Innovation Fund and Prince George received support to begin a community ambassador program. The purpose of our program is to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing travel market: tourism organizations no longer dictate where or how travellers find information, but must react to information seeking behaviour that shifts frequently. Travel planning has become increasingly user driven, and therefore it takes a community effort to maintain updated information in all the places that visitors may be looking.
