Jessica Speziale is a Pop/Rock Powerhouse from Toronto, Canada blending the intent of Serena Ryder with the soul of Alicia Keys.
Jessica’s debut full length album, Shine (2014, MC2 Records), is receiving airplay on CBC Radio including Metro Morning for songs ‘Everything’ and ‘Stay’, and her music video for title track, ‘Shine’, has been aired on VMIX on OMNI.2 Television. She has also been a festival performer at three of Canada’s biggest music festivals, and is a frequent #1 artist on Reverbnation’s Pop Charts for Toronto.
In 2015, Jessica (or Jess to her fans) fell in love with video as a way to connect with her fans. Her guest feature on Canadian YouTubers’ Across The Board’s version of Wild Horses attracted the attention of Canadian stars, Walk Off The Earth, who commented “goosebumps alert!” Jessica is now an Ambassador for Wurrly, a new portable music video creation app, that features her as an artist on their platform across the world.
Raising my Voice
Another one of Jess’s major loves is giving back to her community and supporting causes she feels strongly about. “I’ve been very fortunate to be able to give back through music. I’m part of the One Fire Movement, a non-profit that raises funds and donated items throughout the year for various charities in the Toronto area – including Nelly’s Women’s Shelter and Amnesty, two charities that have been important to my family over the years.” Jess’s music is featured on One Fire Movement’s charity compilation album series “Songs From the Heart,” and Jess is currently posing in an Amnesty International t-shirt on the cover of Amnesty’s 2016 catalogue – a photo taken during the Amnesty Toronto Bowl-a-Thon for which she was on the One Fire team. Jess has also performed at Amnesty Toronto’s annual conferences in 2014 and 2016.
For Jessica, music has always been a family affair. She learned how to sing and harmonize with her mum and dad in the car as a child and began writing music at 10 years old while sitting around the kitchen table with her dad and his acoustic guitar. Since elementary school, she’s been involved with multiple bands, choirs, and several school musicals, one of which featured two of her original songs when she was just 12 years of age. Speziale still sings with Southern Ontario choral ensemble, Arcady.
Her debut independent EP, Dear Reverie (2011), had 5 of its 6 tracks in rotation at several college, university, and online radio stations across Ontario and in the UK. Jess’s song ‘Everything’ was placed in independent film, Circles (2016); ‘Don’t Look Down’ was placed in an independent film, Scratched Vinyl (2014); and song ‘Dear Reverie’ was placed in a webseries called Please Don’t Fire Me in 2013.
