Start the New Year right and join us for the 17th annual Polar Bear Dip! Take the plunge into the frigid waters of Ness Lake or cheer on the dippers.  Hundreds of dollars in prizes from local businesses for top fundraiser and best costume.  Pay $20 to dip or raise pledges, with all proceeds going toward the Camper Sponsorship Fund to help children and youth come to camp.

Caledonia Ramblers full-moon snowshoe or hike

The Caledonia Ramblers are hosting a full-moon snowshoe or hike up the Hillside trail in west central Prince George, east of UNBC on New Years Day.
It's rated easy and should take about two hours.
Depending on the weather, snowshoes or ice cleats are suggested, as is a headlamp. Hiking boots, a day pack with snacks, a hot drink, extra clothing, raingear and hiking poles are also advised.
Meet at the city hall parking lot 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 6 p.m. The carpool fee is $2.

Participants should consider bringing both snowshoes and ice cleats for this trip as the trail may be either snowy or icy.
They should also bring hiking boots, a day backpack, sufficient water or something hot to drink, snacks and/or lunch, extra warm clothing and possibly gaiters and hiking poles.
Meet in the parking lot south of the 18th Avenue-Ospika Boulevard intersection 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 11 a.m. There is no carpool fee.

Standing at the "Gates of Hell": Crime History and the Origin of Prince George's Bad Reputation

Dr. Jonathan Swainger is a History professor at UNBC. His teaching includes Canadian, legal, crime, and historiography. His research centers on legal and crime history in which he has published numerous articles on topics including capital punishment, the politics of judicial appointments, seditious language and free speech during the First World War, crime and community identity, and teen culture in northern British Columbia during the 1950s.

The Feature Gallery is located at Studio 2280 and is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

On Thursday, January 11, join Studio 2880 for the opening of this art exhibit and a live painting demonstration from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Andrew Grose:

A Canadian comedy veteran with some of the most impressive credentials in the industry. In addition to over 25 years of live performances in comedy clubs, theatres and festivals he has made his mark on national television in Canada. His credits include a one hour Comedy Now Uncensored Special on The Comedy Network, a half-hour Comedy Now special on C.T.V., a half-hour Comics! comedy special, 3 Comedy at Club 54 Specials and countless television appearances from the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Halifax Comedy Festival and the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

In the last few years Andrew has appeared at Just For Laughs 8 times as well as the Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Medicine Hat,Winnipeg and Edmonton Comedy festivals. He was also the Mayor of Edmonton's choice to appear at the Mayors Celebration of the Arts in 2010 and starred in the 2011 Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show. 

Originally from Charlottetown, P.E.I. Andrew makes his home in Edmonton, Alberta where he organized the Laughing For Cancer Benefit which raised over $1,000,000 for cancer research and treatment in Alberta. Andrew is also the Producer and President of the Edmonton International Comedy Festival.

Emily Burden:

Emily Burden is a stand up comedian based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Her quick wit and unique style of delivery makes her exciting to watch. Emily is a graduate of Macewan Universitys' Theatre Arts program. Recent musical theatre credits include: City of Angels, Kiss of the Spiderwoman and a Man of No Importance. Emily has traveled around Western Canada as an opening act. She has performed stand up in comedy festivals such as Sled Island, Improvaganza, the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, Lady Laughs Comedy Festival, The Edmonton Comedy Festival and the San Diego Comedy Festival. She began her performing career tap dancing on stage at the age of 8 to the Mini-pops, and plans to go out in the same fashion.
