Broadway's Best
Saturday October 14, 2017  |  7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Prince George Playhouse, 2833 Recreation Place

Accompanied by Maureen Nielsen Nove Voce will be performing Broadway classics such as Many a New Day by Rogers and Hammerstein all the way through to Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton. Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, and Andrew Lloyd Webber will round out the program along with some lesser known shows such as Titanic by Maury Yeston, Parade by Jason Robert Brown and Nunsense by Dan Goggin.

So many of the members of Nove Voce are strong soloists it only made sense to feature everyone this concert Zarrah Holvick, Aimee Paul and Andrea Brown all seasoned local performers will be featured in Omigod you guys from Legally Blonde while Amy Blanding, Carmen Beattie and Eve Ghostkeeper will be some of our Merry Murderesses in Cell Block Tango from Chicago.

The women of Nove Voce are diverse, from professors to nurses to college students, so it only makes sense that the music we perform is as well. Mama I’m a Big Girl Now will feature our three youngest members Courtney Hayhurst, Susie MacRae and Amy Chester.

We are especially proud of the different styles we regularly perform and we will be helped by Patrick Kilcullen on Piano for three of the most modern numbers: Mama who Bore me from Spring Awakening, Omigod from Legally Blonde and Schuyler Sisters from Hamilton.

Tickets are available at Books and Co. or at the door.

Caledonia Ramblers hike
Saturday October 14, 2017

The Caledonia Ramblers are hosting a special Saturday hike up Burden Peak on Saturday, October 14.
The hike is rated moderate-strenuous and takes about two hours to reach the alpine. From there, it presents many opportunities for ridge walking.
Reaching the trailhead requires a two hour, 20 minute drive northeast of the city. As such, this hike is weather dependent. As the route up the mountain is lightly brushy, rain pants are advised.
Participants should also be equipped hiking boots, a day backpack, sufficient water or something to drink, lunch and snacks, extra clothing (there could be snow), rain gear and sunscreen. Hiking poles, gaiters and bear spray are also recommended.
Meet 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time of 6 a.m. at the city hall parking log. The carpool fee is $15.
For more information, please call Travis at 250-596-1320.
