Wax Mannequin
Tuesday August 1, 2017  |  8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Nancy O's, 1261 3rd Ave

$10 cover charge

Strange-folk phenomenon Wax Mannequin is well-travelled. He has crossed a wide range of terrain — both sonic and physical — this decade past. Through his catalogue of secretly renowned recordings and his riotous live performances at countless venues and festivals, Wax continues to bring his essential voice and vision to both sides of the Atlantic. His legend grows through word-of-mouth as his music is passed from hand-to-hand — his influence trickles down from the minds of wayward kindred souls, insidiously seeping into the poetic heart of this country.

Big Squeeze 2017
Wednesday August 2, 2017  |  11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Come out and join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George on August 2nd from 11:00am - 3:00pm for some lemonade from local businesses around town. The Big Squeeze is an annual summer event that has been around since 2013 and has exploded! It is a fun day that allows for some friendly competition between businesses as teams compete to see who has the best 'secret lemonade recipe!'

The day of the Big Squeeze teams that have registered set up their lemonade stand and sell their lemonade by donation to the community. The teams are spread around Prince George so you can find a lemonade stand nearest to you, or locate your favorite business and support them in achieving the great lemon trophy!

All proceeds from the big squeeze stay in Prince George to support our agency's proactive mentoring programs. This is an exciting way for our agency to promote mentoring and help raise funds to start something BIG for local kids.

This Way North, Hatchey the Mouthpiece, and Parlour Panther
Wednesday August 2, 2017  |  8:00 PM
The Legion, 1116 6th Avenue

Parlour Panther:
Parlour Panther is an Indie Rock band hailing from East Vancouver. Queer power couple Steph and Lee collaborate with Charles and Toga to create songs full of electric guitars, synths, phat bass n’ rhythms, and powerful vocals in overlapping harmonies. Influenced by blues, indie rock and french pop, Parlour Panther originals are crowd-pleasing and rich with complex musical intricacies.
Inspired by the resistance of Queer communities, some of their lyrics come from those struggles and the love and strength required to overcome.

Hatchey the Mouthpiece:
2013 Much Music BeatBox Champion
2012 Hamilton Music Award Winner
2012 Hamilton Hip Hop Award Winner

Live looping beatbox artist accompanied by exotic synths,Vocoder and lyrics

This Way North:
Punchy and left of centre, but with a universally appealing groove and melody, This Way North’s live shows are powerful. Cat brings solid groove based, dynamic power drumming, while Leisha sways with swampy slide guitar, slimmed down soul vocals and compelling alt- pop melodies. Sometimes likened to The Black Keys, Tame Impala and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, their unique musical connection creates an explosive sound that’s rarely realised by just two artists on stage. Audiences are drawn in by the powerful performances of these two seasoned musicians. The moment This Way North embrace the stage the audience engage – that’s just how it is.
Recorded with producer Shane O’Mara (Tim Rogers, The Audrey’s, Lisa Miller) the duo’s 2016 debut EP featured singles ‘Pretty Much’ and ‘Don’t You Fly’ with official clips directed by Agostino Soldati, and was followed by shows with Thirsty Merc, as well as Toronto showcases and festivals such as Moomba, Nannup Music Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots, Swagger Music Festival and Wollombi Music festival.

Bobby Dove: Live at Nancy O's
Thursday August 3, 2017  |  8:30 PM - 10:30 PM
Nancy O's, 1261 3rd Ave

$5 cover charge

Montreal singer-songwriter Bobby Dove is winning the hearts of music lovers across genres and generations. Bobby's country-folk roots were planted at Montreal's storied Wheel Club 'Hillbilly Nights', where she was mentored by lap-steel player Bobby Hill (1932-2015) – an award winning musician and pioneer in Canadian country music radio. Dedicated to Bobby Hill, Dove's debut full-length album “Thunderchild” is a collection of honky tonk two-steppers, rocked-up vision quests and smouldering ballads.
