Malcolm Jack live at Omineca Arts Centre
Thursday July 13, 2017  |  9:00 PM
Omineca Arts Centre, 1119 3rd Avenue

Malcolm Jack is a Vancouver born and raised composer, producer and performer with a total awareness of the here and now. A folk singer in the true sense, he incorporates tape loops, field recordings, vintage drum machines, bizarre tunings and analog synths into his otherwise lyrical approach. Touching on the concepts of modern myth, offline living, ecology and alienation, he creates a one of a kind world that is as inclusive as it is unique, allowing peers to peer into their own lives and environments with stunning magnification.

Professional Comedy featuring Simon King
Friday July 14, 2017  |  9:00 PM
Nancy O's , 1261 3rd Avenue

Tickets $20 (available in advance at Nancy O's)

Simon King utterly changes a room when he takes the stage. He is easily described as one of the most powerful, moving and significant comedians working anywhere today. His high energy, aggressive, intelligent and edgy comedy style makes him nothing short of a force of nature. Known for his explosive performance that marries sharp socially conscious material with a keen point of view Simon goes flat out with hilarious and game changing results. A prolific writer and tireless performer he is constantly honing his skills and pushing his own limits often to the tune of over four hundred shows a year. From the middle of everywhere to the middle of nowhereyou’re sure to find him screaming the gospel of common sense at the top of his lungs most every night of the week. Equally at home in dive bars and theatres he commands the room, owns the crowd and blows the doors off no matter where he is.

Being the kind of comedian that comes along maybe once in a generation will get you noticed. It wasn’t long before he was being invited to play some of the world’s most prestigious comedy competitions and festivals. From his appearances at: the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, the Seattle International Comedy Competition, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, The Edmonton Comedy Festival, The Vancouver International Comedy Festival and The Just For Laughs Festival to his breakout performances at the prestigious HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and the HBO, TBS Comedy Festival in Las Vegas: It’s undeniable he’s made a name for himself.

In 2010 Simon recorded his first full length album, UNFAMOUS, with Los Angeles based American comedy recording label Uproar Entertainment. In addition to being extremely well received critically, making numerous top ten lists, UNFAMOUS still enjoys regular airplay on Sirius/XM satellite radio, Pandora radio and numerous independent comedy stations throughout North America. With numerous national television credits to his name including his own one hour special on the Comedy Network and CTV and a show stopping sets at both the CBC Winnipeg comedy gala and The Club Soda series at Just For Laughs he’s undeniably an emerging comedy superstar.

His unmistakable mind blowing style, powerful commanding stage presence and lightning wit will win you over but the sheer hilarity and spontaneity of his performance will keep you coming back for more. From the simple to the surreal, from topical to absurd there's no doubt that Simon King is like nothing else in the comedy world.

Every Thursday at the Gallery offers free admission to all exhibitions. MakerLab Open Make Public drop-in is $5 and runs from 5-9p on Thursdays.

MakerLab 2RG is a gathering place! Both new and experienced makers can work on projects, access new technologies as well as traditional tools, and connect socially.  It is also a workspace for people who may not have their own.  MakerLab is a sounding board, a meeting place, a learning space, and a place to hang!  We call it a lab because we hope you'll experiment with your creativity, learn new skills, and be inspired by what other makers are creating, both in our own community and worldwide.

If you are a: crafter, coder, artist, fabricator, knitter, educator, scientist, geek, foodie, gardener, or something else altogether - this is the place for YOU! What everyone shares is a strong belief in the do-it-yourself spirit, a willingness to try something new, and a passion for making things.

Please note:  Two Rivers Gallery Members receive a 10% discount on all classes and workshops. Applicable taxes are charged on all programs.
