Get lost in our wild nature! From tiny neighborhood hideaways to sprawling all-day adventures, more than 120 parks of all shapes and sizes call Prince George home - and that's just within city limits.

Playgrounds, a water spray park, picnic facilities, beautiful hilltop flower gardens, bird-watching or a simple nature walk are all options. Each park and every trail offers its own unique glimpse into this city of nature. If you are looking for a guided nature hike, check out Goodsir Nature Park, which offers over 200 species of plants and over 3 kilometres of trails. Visitors seeking more challenging spots can check out the mountain biking trails at Pidherny and Cranbrook Hill.

For those who want to get away from it all and still be home in time for dinner and a hot tub, a number of lake front beaches, riverside rambles and forest walks can be found within 30 kilometres (20 miles) of town. Click here to view the list of summer hikes headed by the Caledonia Ramblers.

Explore Cottonwood Island's winding trails along the river! Follow Highway 16 to the foot of the Yellow Head Bridge on the east side of town. To the left before the bridge is River Road heading north. Follow River Road to the park, which will be on your right hand side.

Cranbrook Hill Greenway has over 25 km of multi-use trails that are open year round for activities such as biking, hiking and skiing. The Greenway can be accessed from several different locations. Brochures and maps are available at City Hall or local outdoor recreation outlets.

The Pidherny Trail Network is fairly extensive; it starts at the Foothills Landfill and ends on Pidherny Rd with cross-country trails extending all the way west to the cut banks along North Nechako Road. Depending on the trail you choose, they range from easy to difficult.
